Empty Threats

You know what? The enemy is not threatened by a group of Christians who go to a Bible study based around not being anxious if those same Christians spend the rest of their week worrying.

The enemy is not threatened by a group of Christians who go to church, sing songs and raise their hands in worship if they walk out of the door afterwards moaning about how cold it was and why there weren’t nicer biscuits.

The enemy is not threatened by a group of Christians who meet up and encourage one another with edifying conversation about how great He is. They would talk about how they’re going to make an impact, shine God’s light. No, the enemy is not at all threatened if those same Christians go to work the following day begrudgingly, dishonouring Him in their attitude and their treatment of colleague/customer/client. Wishing they could go and ‘really do something that will actually have an impact.’

The enemy IS threatened by a group of Christians who hear the Word, letting that glorious Truth penetrate their very soul. Stirring them. Stirring them to move into action. The enemy IS threatened by those Christians who don’t take the call of God lightly. Who see where He’s placed them ‘for a time such as this’ as their mission field. Those Christians who take the promises of God literally and truly believe that He is who says He is and will do what He said He will, in and through us.

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. (Hebrews 10:39 ESV)
